In mid-March, the Convene team returned to Community First! Village to meet with 7 different community members to hear additional perspectives on what substance use supports are working and which need improvement in Travis County. In the conversation, participants shared that substance use support must look different for different individuals. Participants noted that, while some people may benefit from programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), it should not be the primary or only option offered. Participants also discussed the high cost of accessing services in Travis County, including the cost of living in sober residences, as a potential barrier to access.
