Convene started with a simple but important vision of bringing people together around their experiences with substance use services and support in Travis County and exploring how to improve access to care and support services. Over the past few months, this vision has begun to take shape through initial planning and the development of a community-driven process. The process is designed to avoid the pitfalls of history repeating itself and is strengthened by ensuring that the voices most necessary for change, the community, are at its center.
What We've Been Working On
So far, we’ve connected with community partners, built social media, and shared the mission around Travis County. We’ve also launched the Ambassador Program, which will help spread the word about the project to other community members and hopes to expand the reach of the project and how people can share their perspectives and help shape what comes next.
What We're Working Towards
As we move forward, we’re focused on making sure Convene continues to be a space where collaboration and creativity can thrive. In the coming months, there will be several structured community conversations around Travis County where people can share their stories and feedback on substance use services in Travis County. Our next steps include building out more ways for people to engage, sharing lessons we’re learning along the way, and highlighting stories from our community.
